Born September 28, 1950 in Gettysburg, he was the son of Charles Everhart Jr. of Hanover and the late Betty L. Kowalczyk. Chuck was a 1968 Graduate of Littlestown High School and worked for 33 years for Magnesita, formerly J.E. Baker and Co.

Julia E. Miller, 50, formerly of Littlestown, died early Thursday A.M., July 12, at Genesis Healthcare Gettysburg Center. Born Aug 4, 1961 in Gettysburg, she was the daughter of Doris (Krichten) Sanders of Littlestown and the late Marlin E. Sanders. She was a 1980 Littlestown High School graduate and was employed with Dal Tile of Gettysburg for 15 years. She was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Littlestown.

William C. "Big Bill" Young, Sr., 65 of Littlestown died Tuesday A.M., July 10, at Gettysburg Hospital. He was the husband of Frances E. (Kelso) Young for 46 years. Born Nov 21, 1946 in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Ralph W. & Helen Grace (Bastin) Young.
He was a Milford Mill High School graduate of Maryland. He was an auto mechanic and later drove truck for Crown Paving of Thurmont.

Elmer J. Staub, 61, of Gettysburg, died Friday, July 6, at Gettysburg Hospital. He was the husband of Deborah J. (Grimes) Staub for 29 years. Born March 7, 1951 in Frederick, he was the son of the late Leroy F. & Lula (Ramsburg) Staub. He had been a chef at Ideal Family Restaurant, formerly of Littlestown. He was a member of McSherrystown Moose.

Carol E. Wallin, 88, of Taneytown died Monday, July 2, at the Carroll Hospital Center, Westminster. He was the husband of Betty (Shelton) Wallin for 63 years. Born June 15, 1924 in Tennessee, he was the son of the late Rankin and Emma (Franklin) Wallin. He served in The U.S. Army with the 10'th Mountain Inf Division in WWII. In earlier years, Carol was owner/operator of Sam's Barber Shop in Fort Meade. He retired as Spring Grove State Hospital's barber in Catonsville after 32 years of service.

Marlene "Joyce" Hoffman Smith, 81, of Everett, PA, formerly of Silver Run, MD, died Sunday, July 1, at Conemaugh Hospital, Johnstown, PA. She was the widow of The Honorable Judge Donald M. Smith who died Aug 19, 2009. Born June 28, 1931 in Gettysburg, she was the daughter of the late Charles & Kathryn Hoffman. She was a 1948 Gettysburg High School graduate and a secretary at Alloy Rods, Hanover until her retirement in 1993. She was a member of St. Mary's Lutheran Church, Silver Run.

Dorothy Marie (Taylor) Snyder, 85, died Wednesday, June 27, at Utz Terrace in Hanover from complications of Parkinson's disease. She was born August 12, 1926, the daughter of the late Harold E. & Marie (Kuntz) Taylor. She was the wife of L. Robert Snyder of Littlestown for 65 years. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Nancy S. Chambers of Gettysburg, son Steven L. Snyder and daughter, Diane M. Snyder, both of Littlestown, her sister Elaine T. Ecker and her brother, D. Owen Taylor, both of Biglerville.

Born May 18, 1962 in Bellefonte, he was the son of Edward Rider of Hanover and Jean (Plessinger) Cook of Gettysburg. He was a 1981 New Oxford High School graduate and trained at MTA Trucking school. LeRoy was a self employed driver and later drove for other companies. He was currently employed with PennDOT in Getttysburg as the Driver's Center Supervisor. He served in the U.S. Air Force from '81-'85.

She was a Hyattsville, MD High School grad and was employed with G.S.O. of Washington, D.C. Charlotte retired in 1992 from N.S.A. of Fort Meade after 30 years of service. She served in the U.S. Marine Corps for 2 years during WWII.

Born Feb. 2, 1931, in Emmitsburg, MD, he was the son of the late George Harris, Sr. & Helen (Knott) Ashbaugh. George served in the U.S. Army and was retired from Bethlehem Mines of Hanover since 1988 and continued with Kennie's Market of Littlestown until 2006.

Born on March 19, 1918, in Littlestown, she was the daughter of Maurice C. and Helen (Byers) Wareheim of Littlestown. She was the widow of Col. Edwin W. Elder, Jr., who predeceased her on March 3, 1989. Surviving are two children, Edwin W. Elder, III, and wife, Barbara of Loudon, Tenn., and Dr. Jacqueline Elder Murren and husband, Douglas of Littlestown. She is also survived by two grandchildren and their families, Donald Edwin Elder, Esq., and wife, Rosanna and children, Emily and Andrew of Chicago, and Dr. Gregg A. Elder and wife, Karen and children Kaitlin and Athena of Phoenix, Ariz. She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Byers Wareheim. Mrs. Elder graduated as class valedictorian from Littlestown High School in 1935. She attended Western Maryland College (now McDaniel), where she majored in English, Music and minored in History. He served in the Secret Service in the uniform division for 24 years retiring in 1980 as Deputy Chief.

Born Jan 9, 1918 in New York City, he was the son of the late Virginio and Alinda Gilone Capella. Arthur was a graduate of Evander Childs High School in NYC and attended a textile school and worked in the textile industry before joining S. Alexander & Company in NYC as a clerk and working his way to CEO/ owner. He retired at age 65 and spent over 10 years in Hilton Head , S.C.. He was a member of the New York State Guard during WWII.
