Walter E. Hughes, 95, of Boonsboro, MD, died Friday, Feb. 17, at Meritus Health Center, Hagerstown. He was the widower of Virginia (Finnacom) Hughes, who died Nov 28, 2000. Born Feb 16, 1917 in Kansas, he was the son of the late Walter E. & Matilda (Brown) Hughes. He was a high school graduate and retired as an Assistant Director of the Division of Research at Atomic Energy Commission in 1972. He served in the Navy during WWII. Walter is survived by a daughter, Gerri Foster of Littlestown; a son, Michael A. Hughes & wife, Diane, of Monrovia, MD and 4 grandchildren. Walter was predeceased by a son, Emmitt Hughes, a sister, Wilma Mothershed and a grandson, Matthew Foster. Funeral Services are private and at the convenience of the family. Inurnment in is Parklawn Memorial Park, Rockville. Memorials in Walter's name may be sent to one's local humane society of your choice. Little's Funeral Home, Littlestown is in charge of arrangements.
