Sterling L. Helwig, 90, of Gettysburg, died early Tues, Dec 23, at his home. He was the husband of Bernetta G. (Storm) Helwig of Gettysburg for 70 years.  Born Apr 30, 1924 in Taneytown, he was the son of the late Charles & Edna Grace (Coppersmith) Helwig.  Sterling was a self-employed truck driver for over 60 years retiring April 30, 2005 at age 81.   Surviving in addition to his wife are 3 sons, Larry E. Helwig and wife Ellen of Fairfield, Dwayne L Helwig and wife Chrystal of Broadbecks, Michael A. Helwig and wife Brenda of Hughesville and daughter Judi L. McKenna of Gettysburg; 10 grandchildren; 5 great Grandchildren;  4 brothers:  Paul L. Helwig of Gettysburg; Charles Helwig, Jr. of Dillsburg; Robert Helwig of Gettysburg and George Helwig of York.  Sterling was predeceased by brother, David Helwig.  He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Two Taverns.  Sterling enjoyed golfing, camping and hunting.   Funeral Service is Sat., Dec 27, at 11 A.M. at his church with his pastor, The Rev. John G. Largen officiating.  Viewing will be 9:30 – 11 A.M. Sat at the church.  Interment will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Gettysburg.  Memorials in Sterling’s name may be made to Lutheran Home Care & Hospice, Inc., 260 W.
