Rebecca Katherine Nevells of McSherrystown, Pa., passed away on June 18th, 2026 at Hanover General Hospital.  She was born in Annapolis, Md. on Aug. 3rd, 1967, the first daughter  of Sarah (Sally) and Grover Nevells.  The world was made a little brighter that day.

Rebecca graduated from F.S.K. high school in Carroll county in 1985 and over several years earned a degree in Social Work from U.M.B.C.  Her primary job soon after graduating was with the State of Md. working as an Addictions Counselor/Social Worker at the Carroll County Health Department.  She was a dedicated employee whose blend of compassion, intelligence and humor encouraged both men and women to embrace a life free of addiction.

After retiring she enjoyed driving for the free bus service run by Island Explorer during summers in Bar Harbor, Maine. In more recent years Rebecca was able to find joy in playing Pickleball.  When she didn’t have a paddle in her hand she could be found reading.  Her personality was one that endeared her to so many who were fortunate enough to meet her.

Now that she is gone from our presence the world seems a bit dimmer for all those who loved her.

Rebecca is survived by her two sons, Joseph Lacks Nevells and Jonah Lacks of McSherrystown; her husband, Gary Salisbury, of  Sebring, Fl.; her mother, Sally, her sister, Elizabeth Nevells, both of Hanover, Pa.; and her brother, David Nevells & his wife, Jackie of Berthoud, Co.  Additionally she is survived by two loving aunts and their husbands; Deborah & Peter Rupprecht of Summerdale, Al., and Priscilla and John Henry of Annapolis, Md., as well as nieces and nephews and many cousins, one of whom was particularly close, Kathy Sherman of Fredericksburg, Va.

She was preceded in death by her youngest brother, Christopher Nevells, her oldest brother, Daniel Nevells, her father, Grover Nevells, her brother-in-law, Michael Sutherland; and her grandparents and two aunts.  Lastly, Rebecca was still grieving the loss of her dog, “Pickles,” the dog who had been closest to her heart of all her canine companions.

Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, June 27, 2026 at Little’s Funeral Home, 34 Maple Ave., Littlestown, Pa. with visitation from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. followed by the service beginning at 11 a.m.   In lieu of flowers donations made in Rebecca’s name may be made to York County Food Bank, 15 Marianne Drive, York, Pa 17406.
