Mary H. Byers, 93, of Littlestown, died Tues, Apr 21, at her home. She was the widow of Chester S. Byers who died March 12, 2003. Born Aug 6, 1921 in Coshocton, OH, Mary was the daughter of the late Charles & Uelatea (Wilson) Holder. She was a Coshocton High School graduate and served in the Army for 4 yrs during WWII with the WAC and was stationed in Ft. Myers, VA. Mary was a homemaker. Surviving are a son, David S. Byers of Hanover; a daughter, Dianne B. Black of Hanover; 2 granddaughters: Jennifer E. Lomman and Chandra D. Black; 2 great granddaughters: Victoria & Elizabeth Lomman and 2 sisters: Judy Philabaum and Nancy Wyler, both of Coshocton, OH. Mary was predeceased by her grandson, Chad E. Black; 2 sisters: Elizabeth Stratman, Laura Holder and 4 brothers: Charles, Dessel, Kenneth & David Holder. Mary was a member of Bart’s Centenary United Methodist Church, Littlestown where she was involved in the women’s club of the church. She was a Gettysburg Hospital Auxiliary member. Mary was an artist known for her slate painting and ceramics work depicting her love of crafts. Funeral Service is Friday, Apr 24, at her church at 12 noon with Pastor Emilia Burdick officiating. Viewing is Friday 10 –12 noon at her church. Interment is in Mount Carmel Cemetery. Memorials in Mary’s name may be sent to her church @ 56 E.
