Marilyn M. Heilig, 86
Marilyn M. Heilig, age 86, passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 17.
Born on April 13, 1940, Marilyn was the beloved daughter of John C. Meyer and Marie Lemp. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Jack Meyer and Bob Meyer.
Marilyn lived throughout her life in Glen Cove and Locust Valley, New York, Stuart, Florida, and Littlestown, Pennsylvania, where she built lasting friendships and devoted herself to her family and community.
Marilyn was married to August Heilig and was a devoted mother to James Heilig, who preceded her in death, and Allan Heilig and his wife, Amy. She was a loving and proud grandmother to Will, Laura, and Kathryn Heilig, who brought immeasurable joy and light to her life.
Marilyn attended nursing school and dedicated her career to caring for others, working in several doctors’ offices over the years. Her compassion and caring spirit carried beyond her profession and into every part of her life.
Above all else, Marilyn’s greatest pride and joy was her family, especially her grandchildren, who were truly the light of her day. She was known for her witty sense of humor, kind heart, and ability to make those around her smile.
Marilyn treasured time spent with friends and giving back to her community. She volunteered faithfully at St. Aloysius Church with “The Friendly Group,” sang in the church choir, and also volunteered at the Littlestown Library. Her warmth, generosity, and cheerful presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Viewing services will be held at Littles Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 26, from 6:00–8:00 p.m.
A second viewing will be held at McLaughlin Funeral Home in Glen Cove, New York, on Friday, May 29, from 6:00–8:00 p.m.
Marilyn will be laid to rest at Locust Valley Cemetery on Saturday, May 30, at 9:45 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer’s Association are graciously appreciated.
Marilyn’s love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to her family, friends, and community will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
