Joann (Clingan) Smith- Welk, 72, formerly of Littlestown, died Thurs., Apr 18, at Gettysburg Hospital. She was the wife of Larry I. Welk of Gettysburg. Born June 21, 1940 in Taneytown, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Clingan & Mildred (Harver) Clingan Slick and step- daughter of the late George Slick. Joann had been a Home Health Aide for Hanover VNA. Surviving is a daughter, Tammy L. Smith-Garman of Littlestown; 4 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren and a sister, Nancy Alt of Westminster. Joann was predeceased by first husband Ellis G. Smith, Sr., 2 sons: Ellis G. Smith, Jr., Gregory K. Smith, Sr. and grandson, Greg Smith, Jr. Joann was a previous active Aux member of Harney V.F.W. Post 6918 for almost 20 years. A Memorial Gathering will be Thurs., Apr 25, beginning at 2 P.M. at Harney V.F.W. Memorials in Joann’s name may be sent to Make-A-Wish Foundation – 1770 E.
