Lucille A. Wherley, 87 of Littlestown died Sunday Dec 23 at the York Hospital. She was the wife of George K. Wherley Sr. for 66 years. Born Feb 6, 1925 in McSherrystown, she was the Daughter of the late Arlington and Geraldine Lippy Spangler. Lucille was a 1942 graduate of Delone Catholic High School. She began her secretarial career at Cannon Shoe in McSherrystown, then worked for Keystone Cabinets and retired in 1987 from Lee Metal Products completing 40 years overall. She was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Littlestown and a member of the Littlestown VFW Auxillary. In addition to her husband, Lucille is survived by a daughter in Law, Diane M Wherley of Littlestown, a granddaughter, Lisa Zimmerman of Reading and a grandson, Douglas Wherley of Hanover and 2 great grandchildren. A brother, Edward Spangler of McSherrystown, sisters, Louise Slagle and Gloria Small of Hanover, Constance Hartlaub of McSherrystown and Marguerite Spangler of Manchester. She was predeceased by her son George K. Wherley Jr in 2009 and a sister Catherine Mehring. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM Friday Dec 28 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Littlestown with the Rev. James M. Sterner Celebrant. A viewing will be held Thurs from 6-8 PM at Little's Funeral Home, Littlestown with prayers at 8 PM. Interment will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Littlestown.
