Larry S. Rhoten, 80, of Hanover, passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at home surrounded by his family.  He was the loving husband of Margaret “Peggy” E. (Fuhrman) Rhoten, Hanover; together they shared 29 years of marriage.

Born July 15, 1944 in Hanover, he was the son of the late Lester and Ruth (Davidson) Rhoten.

Larry grew up in Manchester, MD and graduated from North Carroll High School.  He served in the United States Army and was in broadcasting for over 50 years.  A well-known on-air personality, Larry worked for 98YCR, WGAL and Froggy 107.7.  He also worked at the Gettysburg Times and Hanover Evening Sun.  Larry served his community as an officer with the Penn Township Police Department and served on the church council at St. Mark Lutheran Church, Hanover.

An avid sports fan, he enjoyed watching the Baltimore Orioles, Baltimore Ravens and NASCAR.  Larry stayed active playing tennis and could be seen on his daily walks or riding his scooter.  He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling and watching The Young and the Restless.

In addition to his wife Peggy, Larry is survived by his daughter, Monica Rhoten, West Chester,
PA; stepdaughter, Kristyne Darling and husband Michael, Southborough, MA; stepson, John T.
Stambaugh and wife Jenna, Littlestown; grandchildren, Peyton Darling, Marissa Darling,
Annalysa Stambaugh, Yvanna Stambaugh, Johnny Stambaugh and Cody Rhoten and wife
Lynnea; great grandchildren: Zalea Rhoten, Christopher Rhoten and Iris Rhoten.  Also survived by his brother Robert Rhoten and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his son, Christopher Rhoten, grandson, Corey Rhoten, sister, Frances Long and brothers Bud Rhoten, Gene Rhoten and Charlie Rhoten.

The family will hold a private service. A public Celebration of Life service will be held later.
