Kenneth L. Reed, 80, of New Oxford, died early A.M. Mon, March 9, at Hanover Hall Nursing Center. He was the husband of Lois E. (Zeigler) Reed of New Oxford for 53 years. Born Sept 29, 1934 in Littlestown, Ken was the son of the late Raymond W. & Marion O. (Hawk) Reed. He was a 1953 Littlestown High School graduate and was retired from the U.S. Air Force after 20 years of service and served during the Vietnam Era. After retirement he was employed with Hanover Foods for 20 years and then went on to work for Flagger Force of Hanover. In addition to his wife, Ken is survived by 3 daughters: Peggy S. Shull of Hanover; Brenda L. Plank & husband, Phil, of Gettysburg; Tina M. Mummert & husband, Tony of Glenville; his son, Gary E. Reed of Orrtanna; 5 grandchildren: Cristie S. Shull, Dan M. Shull, Cory L. Plank, Jennifer M. Grimes and Colby Mummert; 2 great grandchildren: Madison & Brycen Grimes; 2 sisters: Doris Monn of Fairfield; Ruthetta Lawrence of Hanover and a sister-in-law, Mary Esther Reed of Littlestown. Ken was predeceased by a brother, Carroll E. Reed. He was a former member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Littlestown. Ken loved his family,hunting, fishing, sports and mushroom hunting. He was very patriotic and an avid Orioles fan. Funeral Service is Thurs, March 12, at 11 A.M. at his church with The Rev. John G. Largen officiating. Viewing is 10 –11 A.M. Thurs at church. Pallbearers will be: Gary Reed, Cory Plank, Tony Mummert, Dan Shull, Phil Plank and Cristie Shull. Interment is in St. John’s Cemetery, Littlestown.
