Kathryn Antoinette ("Kate") Cooke, of Gettysburg, PA, daughter of Roberta and Jim Cooke, also of Gettysburg, PA died Friday, January 9, 2015, at Penn State Hershey Medical Center. Kate was born April 5, 1980, in Ridgewood, New Jersey, and graduated from Ridgewood High School in 1998. Kate attended Montclair State University in New Jersey and Harrisburg Area Community College (HACC) in Gettysburg, PA. When her health permitted, she worked at the HACC library on the Gettysburg campus. She bravely fought against the ravages of Cystic Fibrosis for as long as she could. An avid photographer, Kate took many photographs of wildlife scenes and battlefield monuments, as well as many photographs of her two favorite cats "Hobbes" and "Mooch". Kate is survived by her parents; sister, Martha C. White and her husband Richard M. White, of New York; maternal grandmother Alva Oliver; aunts Laurine Cooke and B.J. Oliver Birkes; uncle Bill Cooke; and many cousins and friends. A memorial service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. Based on Kate’s love of animals, memorial contributions may be made to the Adams County SPCA, 11 Goldenville Road, Gettysburg, PA, 17325, In lieu of flowers.
