Jeane M. (Morehead) Hankey Obituary

Jeane M. Hankey, 88, of Littlestown, passed away Monday, May 12, 2025 at Laurel Lakes Rehabilitation and Wellness Center, Chambersburg with her family by her side.  She was the loving wife of Gene A. Hankey, Littlestown; together they shared 69 years of marriage.


Born October 10, 1936 in Taneytown, MD, she was the daughter of the late Charles Moss and Mary Alverta (Collins) Morehead.


Jeane was the office manager for over 30 years for H.O. Strickler and was also employed at Community National Bank.  In retirement, she and her husband drove for the Littlestown School District for 18 years.  A member of Redeemers U.C.C., Littlestown, Jeane was very active, singing in the choir and baking pies for the Ladies’ Aid.  She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed sewing.


In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughters, Mary McMaster and husband Andrew, Littlestown and Laura Wooster and husband Kevin, Sarasota, FL; son, Chuck Hankey, Sarasota, FL; grandchildren, Sara, Kacie, Emily, Joshua and Corey and great grandchildren, Caeden, Connor, Winona and Nehemiah.


The youngest of eight children, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Phillips and Alma Staley and brothers Henry, Paul, Moss, Milton and John.


A service to celebrate the life of Jeane M. Hankey will be announced at a later date.
