Guy L "Gig" Conover Obituary

Guy L. “Gig” Conover, 88, formerly of Littlestown, died Mon, March 10, at Village of Laurel Run, Fayetteville.  He was the husband of Mary Jane (Wisotzkey) Conover for 67 years.  Born Feb 10, 1926 in Gettysburg, he was the son of the late Norman B. & Clara (Appler) Conover.  Gig was a 1943 Gettysburg High School graduate.  He served in the Army during WWII and received a bronze star for serving in the Battle of the Bulge.  Gig was retired from Prudential Insurance and prior to had been employed with the Borough of Littlestown and the high school.   Surviving in addition to his wife are 2 sons:  Larry R. Conover & wife, Darla, of Orrtanna; Ronald B. Conover of Van Nuys, CA; 4 grandsons:  Christopher, Carson, Garrett and Ian Conover and a sister, Sarah Bucher of Bendersville.  Gig was predeceased by a granddaughter, Brittany Conover; a sister, Betty Kravetz and 3 brothers:  Alvin, Willis and Irvin Conover.  Gig attended Redeemer’s UCC, Littlestown and was a life member of the  VFW, the American Legion, Alpha Fire Co., FOE and Fish & Game, all of Littlestown; also a life member of Gettysburg Moose; a Littlestown Lions member and an NRA member.  Gig loved hunting, fishing, crabbing, Penn State football and the Boston Red Sox.   Funeral Service is Sat, March 15, at 11 A.M. at Redeemer’s UCC, Littlestown with The Rev. George P. Heberling officiating.  Viewing is Friday 6 – 8 P.M. at Little’s Funeral Home, Littlestown.  Interment is in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Littlestown with full military honors conducted by Littlestown Allied Veterans Council.  Memorials in Gig’s name may be made to Disabled American Veterans or Redeemer’s U.C.C., 107 E.
