Gloria Ann Bowers Burr, of 104 Bowers Rd, Littlestown, entered eternal life on Saturday, April 18, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was a devoted and compassionate nurse who spent her life caring for her patients, family, and friends.
Gloria was raised in Littlestown and graduated from Littlestown High School in 1963. She pursued an education in nursing and graduated from the Bryn Mawr Hospital School of Nursing in 1966 and became a registered nurse in 1968. Additionally, she went to the University of Virginia School of Nursing and obtained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1971. Professionally, Gloria began her career at the University of Virginia Medical Center before returning to Pennsylvania to continue her nursing career. She served as head nurse at Littlestown Area School District until her retirement in 2010 after 32 years of service.
Born April 08, 1945, Gloria was the youngest daughter of Glenn and Dorothy Bowers. She had two older siblings, Clair Bowers and Jane Bowers Heavner. She is survived by her husband, John Tuscano; son, Christopher Burr; step daughter, Corinne Burr, step son John Tuscano, and grandchildren Mitra and Monet Burr and Michael and Caroline Tuscano. She was predeceased by her husband Chaplain Lewis Maurer. Gloria deeply cared for Pennsylvania agricultural preservation. She also was an avid contributor to numerous environmental, wildlife, children, veteran, and community charities.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday May 2, 2026. 1:30 PM at St. James Lutheran Church, 109 York St, Gettysburg, PA 17325, with Rev. Nelson T. Strobert, Ph.D., officiating. Visitation will begin at 12:30 PM. Little's Funeral Home, 34 Maple Ave, Littlestown is assisting the family with arrangements. Interment will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Littlestown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a nursing scholarship memorial fund through the funeral home.
