Gloria J. Bittle, 90, of Littlestown, died Sun. A.M., May 3, at Gettysburg Hospital. She was the wife of Junior T. Bittle for 68 yrs. Born March 8, 1925 in Littlestown, Gloria was the daughter of the late Worthington A. & Lottie Belle (Mummert) Crabbs. She was a ‘43 Littlestown High School grad. Gloria was a homemaker and later waitressed at Schottie’s Restaurant, formerly of Littlestown and also the town’s tax collector. Surviving in addition to her husband are 6 children, 2 sons: James Bittle & wife, Gail, of Oxford, MD; Eugene Bittle & wife, Sonia, of York; 4 daughters: Linda Bittle, Lana Bittle & Lois Bittle, all of Hanover and Lisa Schmidt & husband, David, of Spring Grove; 6 grandchildren: Corey Bittle & wife, Heidi, of Littlestown; Jennifer Brown & husband, Jeff of Shippensburg; Devaughn Bittle & wife, Katie of Hagerstown; Whitney Wood & husband, Dustin of Frederick; Matthew Schmidt & wife, Meghan of Elizabethtown; Jonathan Schmidt of Codorus and 10 great grandchildren: Kamryn, Brody & Grady Bittle; Alyssa, Addison & Lucas Brown; Ainsley & Olivia Bittle and Jaxson & Charlye Wood. Gloria was predeceased by her sister, Gladys Worley. She was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church & the Ladies Aid, Littlestown; VFW Post 6954 Ladies Aux of Littlestown where she was past president and later district president. She also helped start the Junior girls of the Aux.; an AMVETS Ladies Aux of Fairfield and Littlestown Eagles member; 25 yr Club of the Adams County Democrat Club; a Den Mother and Girl Scout Leader and presenter of the “Voice of Democracy” annual award held at Littlestown High School sponsored by the VFW. Funeral Service is Friday, May 8, at 11 A.M. at Little’s Funeral Home, Littlestown with Vicar Sean Titus officiating. Viewing is Thurs. 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 P.M. at the funeral home. Interment is in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Littlestown.
