Frederick B. Markle, 78, of Taneytown, died Tues A.M., Dec 11, at Genesis Healthcare at Gettysburg Center. He was the husband for 50 years of Barbara Jean (Wren) Markle who died June 24, 2010. Born Feb 21, 1934, he was the son of the late Clarence & Beatrice (Fleming) Markle. He served in the Army and was a paratrooper and marksman. He was a Maintenance Mechanic and retired from Littlestown Foundry after 25 years of service and later returned to work at Hanover Shoe. Fred is survived by 3 daughters: Bonnie Stair and husband, Roger, of Taneytown; Renee Bowers & companion, Craig Paules of East Berlin; Sharon Peppers of TX; 3 sons: Kenneth Crouse & wife, Sheree ; Brian Markle & wife, Annie, all of Littlestown; Donald Markle & wife, Gabrielle of Taneytown; 14 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 3 brothers: Timothy Markle of Gettysburg; Daniel Markle of Denver, PA; Larry Markle of Harney; sister Jackie Hartland of Silver Run and father-in-law William Wren of Port Orchard, WA. Fred was predeceased by daughter Linda Markle; son David Markle; 2 grandsons: Roger Stair, Jr. & Aaron Bowers; granddaughter Emily Ricketts; 2 great grandsons: Christian Utz & Mason Blymire; 2 sisters: Nancy Flickinger & Toni Coshun and brother Ronald Markle. Fred was a member of Piney Creek Presbyterian Church, Taneytown, Harney Lions Club and Antique Car Club of America. Viewing is Thursday, Dec 13, 6 - 8:30 P.M. at Little's Funeral Home, Littlestown. Memorial Service is Fri, 12 noon, at his church at 4792 Harney Rd., Taneytown with The Rev. H. Paul Matthews officiating. Inurnment is private in the church cemetery.
