Frederick J. Cucco, Jr., 78, left this world after a courageous battle with multiple illnesses, while at his home in Adams County, PA, on June 16, 2026.  His wife of 46 years, Cheryl A. Cucco (Hylock), was by his side.

Fred was born on April 20, 1948, in Baltimore, MD, to his parents, Frederick J. Cucco, Sr. of Naples, Italy, and Opal L. Whittemore of Warrenton, NC.  Fred graduated from Mergenthaler Vocational Technical High School in 1966, majoring in Printing.  He became the youngest Journeyman Printer in the International Typographical Union at age 20 in 1968.  He worked at several printing companies and in the newspaper industry during his career.  He received a certificate in Computer Electronics from Rets Electronic Schools in 1983 and became a Computer Technician at the Baltimore News American.  

Fred was truly a "jack of all trades" and was self taught in most of them.  He maintained and rebuilt cars as a back-yard auto mechanic, and he learned the art of blocklaying, carpentry, electricity and plumbing.  He and his wife designed and built their own home in Adams County.   Fred loved working in his Pennsylvania woods.  Over the years there, he maintained several old farm tractors and built much of his own equipment.  He also loved fishing and crabbing in the Patapsco River in Baltimore, and boating and jet skiing on the Potomac River in Northern Neck, VA, so much that he and his wife designed and built a second house on the Coan River in Northumberland County, VA.

In addition to his wife, Fred is survived by two sisters, Antoinette Cross (Salvatore) of Stewartstown, PA, and Elizabeth Thomas of Littlestown, PA, nephews Vincent S. Cucco of Rogers, AR, Jeremy L. Cucco of Boise, ID, Adam Thomas of Aberdeen, MD, Brandon Thomas of Essex, MD, Tyler Cross of Dallastown, PA, Matthew Cross (Tera) of York, PA and Luke Eaddy of Littlestown, PA, and a great nephew, William J. Cucco of Boise, ID.  Fred was predeceased by both of his parents, his brother, Vincent C. Cucco of Cabot, AR, his niece, Elizabeth Eaddy of Littlestown, PA, and his step-father, Joseph H. Redding of Littlestown, PA.

Fred especially loved caring for his pets throughout his life.  He was predeceased by his two dogs, Pax and Tux, and six cats, Spirit, Rambo, Jones, Ripley, Willow and Louie. 

Funeral services will be private.  Memorial contributions may be made to St. Aloysius Gonzaga Catholic Church in Littlestown, PA, or Bridging Life Hospice of Westminster, MD.  Cheryl would like to thank her family for their help during this difficult time, with very special thanks to her sister, Edna Derringer, for her immeasurable support, and her nephews, Vincent E. Brammer and Luke Eaddy for their help at the homestead for the last several years.
