Donald L. Gerver Obituary

Donald L. Gerver, 85, of Littlestown, died Mon. afternoon, March 3, at his home.  He was the widower of Irene E. (Hilbert) Gerver who died Jan. 29, 2013.  Born Jan. 29, 1929 in Hanover, he was the son of the late Charles & Hattie (Copenhaver) Gerver.  Donald served in the Army during the Korean Conflict.  He had been employed with Carroll Shoe Co. & The Creamery, both of Littlestown and was retired from Black & Decker of Hampstead, MD.  Following retirement, he was employed with Littlestown Borough. 
 
Donald is survived by 3 sons:  Elwood D. Gerver & wife, Cindy, of Mount Joy;  Harold E. Brown of Littlestown and Dennis L. Brown of Hanover; 2 daughters:  Nancy M. Hartlaub & husband, Larry, of Littlestown and Betty A. Sordon & husband, Lou, of Gettysburg; 3 grandchildren; 1 step granddaughter; 3 great grandchildren; 4 step great grandchildren and 1 step great great grandson; a sister, Janet Gerver of Hanover. Donald was predeceased by a grandson, Benji Hartlaub and a brother, Lamar Gerver.
 
Donald was a member of Faith U.C.C., Littlestown and a life member of both Littlestown American Legion and VFW.
 
Funeral Service is Thurs, March 6, at 12 noon at Little’s Funeral Home, Littlestown with the Rev. Timothy J. Kielley of New Hope Faith Community Church, Brushtown, officiating.  Visitation will be 10 A.M. – 12 P.M. Thurs at the funeral home.  Inurnment will be private in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Littlestown.  In lieu of flowers, the family has asked memorials in Donald’s name to be sent to American Legion, 510 E. King St., Littlestown PA  17340.  Online condolences may be shared on www.littlesfh.com.
