Charles Francis Bridinger, 87, currently residing in Duncannon, died Monday, Dec 23, at Harrisburg Hospital. He was born in Littlestown Jan 3, 1926 and resided in Littlestown for many years. He was the son of the late Charles W. & Emma (Strickhouser) Bridinger. He was predeceased by his wife Ethel M. (Bowers) on Feb 13, 2008. Charles had been a faithful member of Redeemer’s U.C.C. in Littlestown. He was a combat veteran of WWII serving in the European Theater with the 2nd Infantry Division. He was retired from Mack Truck, Hagerstown, MD where he was employed for 25 years. Charles served as Littlestown borough councilman for 1980 – 1986 and as Mayor from 1990-2005 and for this service he was recognized for more than 25 years of dedicated service to the community of Littlestown. He was a life member and Past Commander of VFW Post 6954, member of American Legion Post 321 and F.O.E. of Littlestown, AMVETS Post 172, Fairfield, Hanover Elks, New Oxford Social Club, McSherrystown Moose and CWV, Bonneauville. Charles is survived by his daughter, Elaine and her husband, John W. Neeves, of Duncannon; 2 granddaughters: Andrea and husband, James Meintel, of Marysville and Jennifer and husband, Paul Handke, of Duncannon. Charles was proud of his three great granddaughters: Grace, Ella and Audra and two step great grandsons: Brandon & Joseph Meintel. Funeral Service is Friday 12 noon at his church with The Rev.’s George Heberling and Ted Bowers officiating. Viewing in 10:30 – 12 Friday at the church. Interment is in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Littlestown. Pallbearers will be Paul Sharpless, Larry Reece, Kevin Weddle, Jude Noel, Brian Ford and Joe Meintel. Littlestown Allied Veterans Council will conduct military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Redeemer’s U.C.C., 104 E. King St., Littlestown, PA 17340.
