Carol E. Wallin, 88, of Taneytown died Monday, July 2, at the Carroll Hospital Center, Westminster. He was the husband of Betty (Shelton) Wallin for 63 years. Born June 15, 1924 in Tennessee, he was the son of the late Rankin and Emma (Franklin) Wallin. He served in The U.S. Army with the 10'th Mountain Inf Division in WWII. In earlier years, Carol was owner/operator of Sam's Barber Shop in Fort Meade. He retired as Spring Grove State Hospital's barber in Catonsville after 32 years of service. Surviving in addition to his wife are 2 daughters: Emma Connelly and husband, Robert of Berryville, VA; Barbara Brown of Littlestown; 2 sons: Carroll Wallin and wife, Virginia of Linthicum and David Wallin and wife, Sally of Hanover; 9 grandchildren: Lori Tamburo, Lisa Degitz, Shawn Brown, Nick Wallin, Paul Wooton, Charlie Wallin, Jeremy Gruss, Michelle and Matthew Connelly; 10 great grandchildren; and 2 brothers: Jack & Claude Wallin, both of Afton, TN. Carol was predeceased by a grandson, Matthew Gruss; son-in-law, Calvin D. Brown; 2 brothers: Kenneth & Bobby Wallin and a sister, Geneva Wallin. He was a lifetime member of Littlestown V.F.W. and F.O.E. Funeral Service is Friday, July 6, at 11 A.M. at Little's Funeral Home, Littlestown with The Rev. Timothy J. Kielley of New Hope Faith Community Church, Littlestown, officiating. Viewing is 5 - 8 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Interment is in Crestlawn Memorial Gardens, Marriotsville with the Maryland National Guard Honor Guard conducting military honors.
