Biography:

Evelyn Jane Little, 95, formerly of Littlestown, died Tues, Jan. 3, at Homewood at Plum Creek, Hanover.  She was the widow of Paul F. Little who died in 2016; Edgar H. DeGroft in 1996 and Charles W. Slusser in 1967.  Born March 10, 1921 in Adams County, Evelyn was the daughter of the late Emory C. & Rhoda J. (Conover) Gitt.  She was a 1937 Littlestown High School graduate and also graduated from Chambersburg Practical Nurses School.  Years ago Evelyn had been employed with Sylvia Garments Sewing Factory, Littlestown for 9 yrs; Littlestown Rubber Factory for 9 years and was retired from Hanover Hospital in 1984 after 16 yrs of service as an LPN.
 
Surviving are her son & daughter-in-law, David C. Slusser & Kaye of State College; her daughter, Nancy J. Snyder of Pittsburgh; her 3 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, her great, great grandson and her brother, Robert Gitt of Littlestown.  Evelyn was predeceased by her granddaughters, Geralyn Ann Snyder, Eva Snyder Emanuelson and her sister, Mildred Cleveland.  She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Littlestown,  Jennie Wade Division of Licensed Practical Nurses Assoc of PA,  AARP,  Council of Republican Women,  Retirees of Hanover Hospital,  Garden Club, Senior Citizens Group, Women’s Community Club and Homemakers Club, all of Littlestown and Frogtown Homemakers Club.  She was the recipient of Adams County Extension Leadership Award in 1997.
 
Funeral Service is Monday, Jan 9, at 11 A.M. at Little’s Funeral Home, Littlestown with The Rev. Richard F. Michael officiating.  Viewing is Monday 10 –11 A.M. at the funeral home.  Interment is in Evergreen Cemetery, Gettysburg.  Memorials in Evelyn’s name may be sent to her church @ 53 W. I will always have wonderful memories of Aunt Evelyn! She took me on my very first airplane trip and use to have a garden that's till inspires me today!
To my cousins Nancy and David, so sorry not to be there for the service, love you and miss you. I'll be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.

The family of Betty Lawrence would like to express their condolences to Evelyn's family for their loss. We met Evelyn at Homewood and loved talking to her. Funny, sweet, just a joy to be around. We'll miss her.

The loss of Evelyn is the loss of another link to good memories of her and her family as I was growing up in the Two Taverns area. She was a gracious lady. My condolences to the family for your loss.
