Biography:

James M. “Jack” Helm Sr., 77, of Littlestown died Saturday, Sept 26, at the Hanover Hospital. He was the husband of Arlene F. (Toms) Helm of Littlestown for 30 years. Born July 31, 1938 in Holt, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Dennis D. and Dorothy V. (Hartley) Helm. Jack was a 1956 graduate of Grafton High School and a 1960 graduate of West Virginia University. He served in the U.S. Army and was a district soil conservationist for Howard County, MD.
 
Surviving in addition to his wife are sons, James Helm Jr. and wife Debra of Spring Grove;  Jon Helm and wife Shelly of Gettysburg and a daughter Jill Trostle of Glenville. Stepsons: William Hawk Jr. and wife Sandy of Taneytown, David Hawk of Littlestown, Terry Lee Hawk of Gettysburg and stepdaughter Deborah Hawk of Hanover. Nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren and a sister Deanna Kisner McQueen of Flemington, WV.   He was predeceased by a brother Reginald Helm.  Jack was a member of Bethel Assembley of God, Fish and Game and the Eagles, all of Littlestown. He enjoyed hunting, blue grass concerts, Mountaineer football and being with his family.
 
Memorial Service is  Sat., Oct 3,  at  11 A.M. at Bethel Assembly of God,  1125 Frederick Pike, Littlestown, with Pastor Richard Rittenour officiating.  There will be no viewing; however, the family with receive friends Saturday 10 – 11 A.M. at church.  Inurnment is in Eylers Valley Chapel Cemetery, Thurmont, MD at a later date.  Contributions in Jack’s name may be sent to American Diabetes Assoc., 3544 N. Progress Ave., Suite 101, Harrisburg, PA  17110.  Online condolences may be shared on www.littlesfh.com

We are sorry to hear of Jacks passing, our thoughts and prayers are with all the family. I always enjoyed talking with Jack and he showed so much determination whenever he was taking his walks up and down the driveway. He will be missed by all.
