Biography:

Lillian E. Maempel, 96, peacefully went to be with the Lord Friday June 12 at Transitions, Gettysburg. She was the wife of Harry L. Maempel who died January 21, 2001. Born January 6, 1919 in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late George and Anna Penning Nieberlein. She was a high school graduate and worked for the Maryland National Bank in Baltimore for 27 years.
 
Lillian is survived by her daughter, Nelva L. Tayman  and husband Bill of Pasadena, MD, daughter in law Louise Cain of Littlestown and her son Harry W. Maempel and wife Joyce of Port Charlotte Fla. Four grandchildren: Harry Maempel and wife Lisa, David Maempel and wife Wendy, Teresa Schmidt and husband Dannon and Michele Lash and husband Frank and 9 great grand children. Lillian was predeceased by her sisters, Alva Collins, Rita Alker, Ida Smith, Esther Waldecker and Anna Nieberlein and brothers Elmer and Vernon Nieberlein. Lillian was fondly known as grandma to all. She loved traveling, being with family, especially holidays and was very loving and kind to all.
 
There will be a Memorial service Wed. June 17 at 11 AM at the Hostetters Meeting House with Brother Richard Herr officiating. Inurnment will be private and at the convenience of the family in Loudon Park Cemetery, Baltimore. Memorial contributions have been asked to go to a charity of one’s choice.
