Biography: Michael Thor Potter, 70, of Hanover, passed peacefully at his home on Friday, August 9, 2024.  He was the loving husband of Joan Ellen (Butler) Potter; together they shared 37 years of marriage.
Born May 17, 1954 in Washington, D.C., he was the son of Ann (Rowe) Farwell, Frederick, MD and the late Richard Potter.
Michael was a tractor trailer driver for Giant Foods for 31 years and was currently employed with Hobby Lobby, Hanover.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by his son, Christopher Scott Potter and wife Emily, Matthews, NC; daughter, Shelley Leigh Potter, Frederick, MD; sisters, Julie Kaufman and husband Artie, Walkersville, MD and Molly Buehn and husband Mark, Thurmont, MD; brother, Richard Potter, Silver Spring, MD; sister-in-law, Margaret Potter, Eldersburg, MD and grandchildren, Kayleigh Potter, Evan Potter, Emma Masters and Colton Denton.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Stephen Potter and stepson, Ronald Denton.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2024 at 11 AM at First Baptist Church, 217 Fulton Street, Hanover, PA with Pastor Gary Buchman officiating.

Not what we expected to hear about in our typical neighborhood walk and gossip sessions. Michael was always easy going in manner and talk; he will be missed by all. May you find the strength in faith and friends to get through these very difficult times.

Joan so sorry for your loss, Richard and I were just reminiscing about Michael and all of us at Walnut Hill, they were the times we enjoyed with ya'll and will always remember with you. We are so sorry we will miss his memorial service, but know our hearts will be with you

Sending my thoughts and prayers to you and your family Joan. As many knew Mike drove for Giant. One night an accident shut the main road down. Mike saw me in my company truck and helped me on to side roads to get back to center. Forever grateful to him. God Bless
